A weekend youth retreat was co-sponsored by the efforts of the Little Servant Sisters and Fr. Waldemar Latkowski CSsR from April 28 through April 30th at the sister’s Provincial House in Cherry Hill. From the thirty participants (full capacity) ages 14 through 21, a talented musical group was quickly formed.
The main theme was the disciples’ words “Lord, teach us to pray”. The youth
delved on the words by listening to conferences, participating in group activities, taking part in the Holy Sacrifice of Mass, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. They discussed the various forms
of prayer, and meditated upon the full meaning of prayer. Focusing on the rosary as seen by the eyes of Mother Theresa of Calcutta and Father Maximilian Kolbe, intrigued them. The evening adoration
also had its moving moments. The youth piled up rocks at the foot of the altar during the Exposition as a symbol of grievous sin.
There was also sufficient time for fun, making new friends and sharing the joy from the meeting with the Lord. Sports, games, and learning the “Belgian dance” created a lot of joy. In keeping with tradition there was also a camp fire with “kielbasa” and marshmallows to roast. The beautiful spring weather added to the ambiance of peaceful living with nature and our neighbor.
Time went by quickly in such wonderful and joyful company leaving a desire and
eagerness for the next meeting. God willing, there will be more…
